Modernist Film was formed in 2011 with the launch of Soucy's first film project, Slant, which played at more than twenty film festivals. Stephen Soucy Productions was founded in 2016 when Soucy joined the lead-producing team on Romy and Michele The Musical with Barry Kemp, Peter Schneider, and Larry Mark.
